Happy Anniversary !

The more I know of the world, the more am I convinced that I shall never see a man whom I can really love. I require so much!”

~Marianne Dashwood

Like all couples....

hmm....we have days when we could throttle each other and days when we just want to be alone....

....but neither of us would ever want to be truly alone without the other there to offer support.

So I dedicate this post to my beloved husband;

.....a wonderful man who loves me just the way I am....and believe me....sometimes I should imagine that's a hard undertaking!

  6. Marianne Dashwood's comment is reflective of a sadness that has been created because love has been described as a measure of taking rather than giving.

    Happy anniversary

  11. Yet each man kills the thing he loves
    By each let this be heard,
    Some do it with a bitter look,
    Some with a flattering word,
    The coward does it with a kiss,
    The brave man with a sword!

    Some kill their love when they are young,
    And some when they are old;
    Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
    Some with the hands of Gold:
    The kindest use a knife, because
    The dead so soon grow cold.

    Some love too little, some too long,
    Some sell, and others buy;
    Some do the deed with many tears,
    And some without a sigh:
    For each man kills the thing he loves,
    Yet each man does not die.

  13. hmm...Qayoom Sahib..

    What a piece...thanks for sharing.

    Since you have quoted Oscar Wilde...may I ask you to please tell me what "on the rates" is supposed to mean?

    From Oscar Wilde's "The Soul of Man Under Socialism:"

    "He should decline to live like that, and should either steal or go on the rates, which is considered by many to be a form of stealing"

    Thanks once again. I am honored.

  14. 'On the rates' means relying on society to give you money. The government had set up a system of poor relief which was referred to as the rates. There was on old country saying referred to by Karl Polanyi in The Great Transformation: the political & economic origins of our time " Once on the rates, always on the rates"

  15. hmmm..Qayoom Sahib...thanks alot.

    But if it means only to rely on Government charity...why Oscar Wilde referred it as STEALING.

    Does it means that once on rate....it takes away people's self respect and once self respect gone stealing and be on rates are same?

    He has something in his mind...when he talked about it.
